The Board of Directors of Legal Services of Southern Missouri (LSSM) announces that Daniel R. Wichmer has accepted the position of executive director for the organization.
Mr. Wichmer will guide LSSM as it continues its mission of providing free, high quality legal assistance to low-income individuals and families.
“We are very pleased that Dan has agreed to serve as LSSM’s Executive Director. His extensive management and legal experience, combined with his understanding of the work of LSSM, makes him the ideal person to lead LSSM,” noted Board President Craig R. Heidemann.
Mr. Wichmer received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He served as a law clerk to Missouri Supreme Court Justice John C. Holstein. He practiced with Miller & Sanford, P.C. and Lathrop & Gage. Mr. Wichmer entered public practice when he joined the City of Branson as its Attorney, and served as City Attorney since 2005 for Springfield, Missouri.
LSSM is devoted to providing free civil legal services to low-income people and has six offices throughout its service area–Springfield (2), West Plains, Rolla, Charleston and Cape Girardeau. LSSM provides free assistance on cases involving housing, family issues, domestic violence, human trafficking, public benefits, employment, education, consumer rights and healthcare law.
