Dear Friends,

On behalf of the board of directors and staff of Legal Services of Southern Missouri (LSSM), welcome to our new website. LSSM is dedicated to the American promise of equal access to justice. We serve Southern Missouri’s low-income families across 43 counties.

As we begin our 36th year of service, we reflect not only on those who are today's partners in providing high quality legal services to the poor, but those who have traveled before us on this important journey. We have never ventured alone. Board members, volunteers, bar associations, donors, service providers and other advocates have joined with us to better serve the low-income community. These collaborations have extended our reach and increased our impact. We greatly appreciate our partners!

LSSM is proud to have relocated to its new headquarters in Springfield, Missouri. The newly constructed facility has been a part of our strategic plan for many years and we are honored to share this new office space with our clients and the community. The building offers us the ability to continue to expand our services and places us within a few blocks of the Greene County courthouse. In addition to our headquarters, we also have branch offices in West Plains, Rolla, Cape Girardeau and Charleston.

With the 36th Anniversary and our new location, LSSM is reaching out to its stakeholders through a new logo, new website and a social networking launch. The new LSSM logo tells our story of providing quality legal aid and equal access to justice. Please visit our website often for news, special events, CLE’s, training and videos of LSSM in the community. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn as we work to expand our services to meet the needs of the low-income population.

Current support levels are inadequate to meet the existing needs of our applicants. In fact, we are only able to assist about twenty-five percent of those who apply for our services. With increased donor support and more pro bono attorneys, LSSM is poised to make the American promise of equal access to justice for Southern Missouri a reality.

Whether you visit our website as an applicant, donor, partner or volunteer, we hope you find this website useful. If you have any comments or suggestions about this site, please feel free to email media@lsosm.org.

Yours truly,

Douglas kays
